- R Vinay Kumar heaps praise on new KKR captain Dinesh Karthik and his Nidahas final cameo
- The former Karnataka captain feels KKR Team 2018 has world class bowlers in Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Johnson and Sunil Narine
- Vinay Kumar was previously a part of the KKR 2018 team during their IPL winning campaign in 2014
Veteran Karnataka seamer and Kolkata Knight Riders’ comeback man Vinay Kumar has lauded the franchise’s decision to appoint Dinesh Karthik as the captain of IPL KKR 2018, stating that the 32-year-old has the ability to lead KKR team 2018 to its third title win in IPL 2018, specially with Mitchell Johnson, Mitchell Starc and Sunil Narine making up a lethal bowling lineup for the team.
KKR had a couple of captaincy choices for IPL 2018
Before the appointment, KKR CEO Venky Mysore had revealed that several names were in contention to take over the captaincy reigns from long-standing skipper Gautam Gambhir, including Karthik and Vinay Kumar himself. The Tamil Nadu-wicketkeeper will have Robin Uthappa as his deputy in the KKR team 2018 and will certainly have big shoes to fill in IPL KKR 2018 campaign, considering his predecessors’s success prior to IPL 2018.
“He did not lead many matches for Tamil Nadu does not mean he’s not a good leader. He’s a very good leader, hopefully he will do well. We have many seniors, have to help each other,” Vinay Kumar said, as reported by FirstPost.
The former Karnataka captain also praised Karthik’s match-winning cameo in the recent Nidahas Trophy final against Bangladesh and stated that he is looking forward to play under him for KKR Team 2018.
“He’s really a good guy. I’ve played most of my cricket with him or against him. The way he played for India in the final was amazing. From nowhere he took the game and finished the game. He’s a very nice guy and will definitely do well for KKR. I look forward, it’s all about play as a team.”
Vinay Kumar excited to work in IPL KKR 2018 team with India U19 stars, Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi
Vinay Kumar, an IPL veteran, who has scalped 103 wickets in 103 IPL matches, also said that he was excited to work with India’s U-19 stars like Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi who will be a part of IPL KKR 2018 team.
“They have not played any IPL matches does not mean they are not good. Everybody has to perform well. Youngsters will bring in more energy on the field. They are good enough, that’s where they are here. It’s very important to share your knowledge with them. Whatever I’ve learnt I want to make sure that these guys are benefited, and in a right frame of mind to deliver. I will give them the right space to do well,” he stated.
Mitchell Starc, Sunil Narine and Mitchell Johnson – great bowling line-up for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2018
Moving on to discuss his team’s bowling resources in IPL 2018, Vinay Kumar feels that the franchise owners and management have assembled a world-class bowling attack which is capable of taking the KKR team 2018 all the way in the tournament. His argument also has merit considering the fact that in ‘Mitchell Starc IPL 2018’, ‘Mitchell Johnson IPL 2018’ and ‘Sunil Narine IPL 2018’, the franchise has invested in three ambitious overseas bowling projects which can turn the tables for KKR Team 2018 and make the overall mission IPL KKR 2018 a huge success.
The veteran seamer is very excited at the prospect of working with international stalwarts like Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Johnson and Sunil Narine in IPL KKR 2018 season.
“We have a very good bowling lineup with (Mitchell) Starc, (Sunil) Narine, (Mitchell) Johnson, I’m really excited. I will see how it goes. I’m preparing myself fully. I will give my best when I’m given an opportunity,” he signed off.
