- Chennai Super Kings will open the IPL 2018 against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on 7th April
With the 11th season of the Indian Premier League just a few days away and players are in the full swing of pre-season preparations. Murali Vijay, who has struggled to find his place in the Indian team for the past few months, will be returning to his beloved Chennai Super Kings team in IPL 2018 after MS Dhoni captained outfit added him to the CSK team 2018 for INR 2 crores in the mega-auction conducted in January. Having missed the entire last season due to wrist and shoulder injuries, Vijay hopes that this time he can contribute significantly to the teams season. Murali Vijay has become a veteran of sorts in the IPL, having scored over 2500 runs including 2 centuries and 13 half-centuries. He will be playing under former Indian captain MS Dhoni captaincy again, someone under whom he has flourished in the CSK team 2018 squad, especially helping CSK 2018 to win the 2010 and 2011 title-winning season.
Murali Vijay wants IPL 2018 to kickoff early
“I always have a free mind. I’m blessed to have had some time off to get myself fitter and I’m really looking forward to this IPL stint. I’m ready to go. I want April 7 to come early.”
“It is a dream-come-true moment for me to be back with CSK. To represent the franchise and put up a show for them is always a pleasure. I’m good enough to do that. Hopefully, I can be consistent and contribute to winning causes.”
Chennai Super Kings (CSK team 2018) did a superb job in the auction, managing to keep the core of the previous title-winning teams intact as they look to make a winning return to the league after serving a suspension period of 2 years. Vijay is confident that the team can recreate the performances from previous seasons. He said,
“The one good thing about playing for CSK is that we always put the team ahead of individual performances. Franchise-based cricket is very difficult because foreigners and domestic players need to have the right rapport to help the team play at a competitive level. We did it with ease in the past. That is going to be important from the start of the season, and hopefully we can do it with more fun and flair.”
Chennai Super Kings will be opening the IPL 2018 on 7th April against the defending champions Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. You can get Live Cricket News or Cricket Latest News by visiting news.rooter.io and browsing around.
