One of the most successful teams in the Indian Premier League, Kolkata Knight Riders will look to secure their third IPL title when they begin their 11th campaign (IPL 2018) on 8th April against Royal Challengers Bangalore. With 2-time IPL winning captain Gautam Gambhir back with the Delhi Daredevils, the captaincy armband for KKR Team 2018 has been handed over to Dinesh Karthik for the upcoming season. Even though the KKR team 2018 has lost some of the stars from previous years, the KKR Team 2018 Players List includes West Indian duo of Sunil Narine and Andre Russell, both of whom were retained by the outfit prior to the auction. The team will again be under the watchful eyes of South African legend and KKR coach 2018 Jacques Kallis, who will make sure that the weakest of players in KKR Team 2018 Players List are up and running to match the strongest of players in KKR squad 2018. IPL 2018: KKR Captain 2018

Following the departure of Gautam Gambhir to Delhi Daredevils, it was a crucial question as to who would be the KKR captain 2018, following which, the captaincy of Kolkata Knight Riders squad was handed over to Dinesh Karthik, making the Team India veteran KKR captain 2018. The wicket-keeper batsman was purchased by the franchise for INR 7.40 Crore and will be under immense pressure to repeat the feats achieved by Gautam Gambhir, his predecessor in the hotseat.

Indian Premier League 2018: KKR Coach 2018

Probably the greatest all-rounder in the history of cricket is going to be KKR coach 2018. Jacques Kallis will continue as the head coach of KKR 2018, but will have the services of Simon Katich as his assistant coach. The 42-year-old South African will also have Zimbabwe legend Heath Streak as his batting advisor for KKR 2018. Kallis is yet to taste IPL success with KKR, but given the investment made in IPL 2018 and the shuffle made around, one can expect the KKR coach 2018 to bring about a total renewal in the vigour of total KKR Team 2018 players list.

KKR Team 2018: KKR Squad, KKR Players Analysis

Kolkata Knight Riders went through a big shuffle following the IPL 2018 auction. The biggest change for them came in the form of Gambhir’s departure to Delhi Daredevils. The Delhi batsman has won two IPL titles with the team but decided that it was the right time for him to change his team and requested the KKR management to not retain him for the upcoming season.

The biggest strength for KKR will again be their spin department, which is lead by West Indian T20 star Sunil Narine and has the likes of Piyush Chawla and Kuldeep Yadav. The trio could prove to be immensely effective on the pitches at Eden Gardens, where KKR will be playing the majority of their matches. Kuldeep has been brilliant in the limited-over format over the past 2 years and which has led to him making his place in the Indian team permanent.

One should also give credit to KKR for putting their faith in under-19 stars from the recently concluded ICC under-19 World Cup. Batting sensation Shubman Gill was acquired by the team for INR 1.8 crore, while they also managed to snap up fast bowlers Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi.

The smartest buy for KKR could turn out to be Australian opener Chris Lynn, who has lit up many stadiums across the world with his explosive batting at the top of the order. Currently, he is out injured with a shoulder injury but is expected to be fit and ready by the time IPL bandwagon comes to town. The weakness for the 2-time IPL champions could be the inexperience of captain Dinesh Karthik, who will be leading an IPL team for the first time in his career.

The other big factor that could work against Kolkata Knight Riders is team squad depth. With injury-prone players in their squad, KKR would really struggle to find their feet if 2-3 of their starting 11 players get injured at any point in the tournament.

Like every other year, Kolkata Knight Riders will enter this IPL 2018 season hoping to go all the way to the final but one feels that this year the KKR squad 2018 is slightly weak. The performance of the team could majorly depend on the performance of a group of 3-4 players, who will need to be at their best for a major portion of 2 months.
