SRH in need of a finishing batsman for IPL 2018

Aakash Chopra said that Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) main concern was that there was a lack of a finishing batsman in the squad’s lineup, which is why the team had bagged the young-blooded explosive batsman, Deepak Hooda, at the IPL 2018 auction for INR 3.6 crore. Speaking to Hooda, Aakash Chopra said, as reported by Star Sports,

“It was a problem (with SRH) that who would finish, the team’s finishing was suffering. And this is why I believe the team bought you (Deepak Hooda) at IPL 2018 auction using the RTM card, while bagging Yusuf Pathan and even Carlos Brathwaite.”

Aakash Chopra added, that the role of a finishing batsman for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for IPL 2018 was now on the shoulders of Deepak Hooda. The former cricketer turned commentator asked Hooda how the 22-year-old power-hitter was planning on taking that role.

Deepak Hooda sought advice from MS Dhoni on being a finishing batsman

Deepak Hooda informed that he had been taking tips from the former India captain and currently one of the best wicketkeeper-batsmen in world cricket, MS Dhoni, who has been fulfilling the role of a finishing batsman for Team India for a long, long while. Speaking about what he learned from Dhoni and how he plans to achieve the feat, Deepak Hooda said,

“I’m currently working on my grey areas, apart from focusing on the mental aspects of my game. Because as far as finishing is concerned, I had talked to MS bhaiya (MS Dhoni) when playing for Team India last time around.”

“MS Dhoni said just one thing, that the finishers always have more time than how it seems. Now all the domestic cricket that I have to play before IPL 2018, I will make sure that I bring the concepts into practice. Try to take the game till the last ball and build on my self-belief. This is all that I talked with MS Dhoni about.”
