- Quetta Gladiators team management and players are busy convincing Kevin Pietersen to visit Pakistan for the PSL 2018 final
The Pakistan Super League’s third season (PSL 2018) was a fresh start for Pakistan, as it was decided by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), that PSL 2018 final would be held in the country, bringing cricket back to the nation after almost a decade. It was a great development for Pakistan which had seen cricket playing nations pull out following a terror attack on a visiting Sri Lanka cricket team in 2009. However, all of that took a heavy blow when PSL 2018 franchise Quetta Gladiators’ dasher Kevin Pietersen said that he would not go to Pakistan, even if his team qualifies.
However, in a recent development, it has been informed by the Quetta Gladiators manager, Azam Khan, that the team management is making rigorous attempts to convince the former England skipper Kevin Pietersen, to visit Pakistan if his PSL 2018 team qualifies for the next stage of the Pakistan Super League.
Majority of PSL 2018 international players agreed to touring Pakistan, except Kevin Pietersen
As reported by Geo.tv, most of the international players taking part in PSL 2018, including Shane Watson, Jofra Archer, and Rilee Rossouw had agreed to tour Pakistan in the final stages of the tournament. Quetta Gladiators manager Azam Khan informed Geo.tv, that Kevin Pietersen was being convinced by Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, among other local cricketers, that touring Pakistan would be safe for KP.
“We have already spoken to several players about visit Pakistan and Shane Watson, Hastings, Jofra Archer and Rilee Rossouw are ready to visit Pakistan of Quetta qualifies for the next stage of the tournament.”
“We are still in talks with KP and I hope that the team management will be able to convince him to visit Pakistan for play-offs and finals of PSL to represent Quetta Gladiators.”
“Sir Viv is also convincing KP along with Sarfaraz, Nadeem Omar and Moin Khan.”
Quetta Gladiators had faced a similar situation in the last season of Pakistan Super League
Quetta Gladiators played the final of Pakistan Super League’s last season in Lahore, despite of all it’s top players showing reluctance to visit Pakistan. When it was announced that PSL 2018 final will be held in Pakistan (Karachi), Pakistan Cricket Board’s chairman, Najam Sethi, had declared that as a part of the PSL 2018 contract of the international players, it was mandatory to play the final in Pakistan.
However, Kevin Pietersen’s unwillingness to visit the country has set in motion an unprecedented chain of events, which is why the England cricket legend is being chased by the local cricketers and Quetta Gladiators team management to take part in PSL 2018 final as well.
