The 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2018) is just a few weeks away and the players in full preparation to showcase their skills in the 2-month long tournament. Mark Wood, who made his international debut for England in 2015, was picked by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2018 auction held in January for his base price of INR 1.5 crore. The fast bowler, who has already picked up over 60 international wickets, said that he was too curious to join MS Dhoni and Harbhajan Singh at CSK in IPL 2018.
CSK is a huge team and Mark Wood can’t wait to play
Speaking ahead of England’s 2nd ODI against New Zealand, Mark Wood answered some Twitter questions in which he was also asked about his expectation from the upcoming season of IPL. As reported by Sky Sports, the 28-year-old said, “Yeah, I can’t wait. It’s a huge and very successful franchise with some world-class players.”
Mark Wood will be joining up with former Indian captain MS Dhoni and legendary spinner Harbhajan Singh in the CSK team and he was visibly excited to have the opportunity of playing alongside such legends of the game. He said,
“The team is a little bit older and full of experienced players I have watched on the TV and been in awe of, such as MS Dhoni and Harbhajan Singh. True Indian greats. We also have some great overseas lads, like Mitchell Santner, and my fellow Englishman Sam Billings, so I can’t want to get out there and try and win games for the club in one of the biggest competitions.”
England team are currently in New Zealand taking part in the 5 match ODI series before going on to play 2 test matches. Chennai Super Kings, on the other hand, will begin their campaign on 7th April against defending champions Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium.
