After dusting the South Africa tour, Team India will head to Sri Lanka for the 2018 Nidahas Trophy T20I Tri-series tournament, which will be held between India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. The very first of the 2018 Nidahas Trophy fixtures will be played between India and Sri Lanka on 6th March, with Bangladesh playing the second Nidahas Trophy fixture against India on 8th March.

2018 Nidahas Trophy, the T20I Tri-Series tournament marks 70th anniversary of Sri Lanka’s Independence

The event, which has been organised to mark the 70th anniversary of Sri Lanka’s independence, will be played at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

As reported by Mumbai Mirror, speaking about the T20I Tri-Series which will be played between Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh, Sri Lanka Cricket’s (SLC) President, Thilanga Sumathipala, said while announcing the 2018 Nidahas Trophy T20I Tri-Series,

“70 years is a long journey, and one that needs to be commemorated and celebrated. We are happy that our closest neighbours, who share more or less the same journey of independence are joining us in this celebration, which we believe will be a milestone and an augur of the great things to come in the annals of cricket.”

2018 Nidahas Trophy Fixtures and Schedule

The start of the T20I Tr-Series Nidahas Trophy 2018 fixtures have been preponed by two days, and the event will now kickoff on March 6, instead of March 8 which was planned earlier. All the 2018 Nidahas Trophy fixtures, including the final, will be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium (RPS) and will start at 7 PM local time.

The 2018 Nidahas Trophy fixtures will be played over the course of two weeks, starting from the T20I Tri-Series opener on March 6th (Tuesday) between Sri Lanka and India, with the final taking place on March 18 (Sunday).

Both the visiting teams – India and Bangladesh – will arrive Sri Lanka on March 4. While Bangladesh are scheduled to play a warm-up game ahead of the kick off of the 2018 Nidahas Trophy T20I Tri-Series, India would begin the competition without any practice match, Sri Lanka Cricket sources told Cricbuzz.
