Multan Sultans

Multan Sultans were the new entrants to the Pakistan Super League they had to pick players from the lot which were left undrafted by other teams, however, the Sultans ended up with quite a strong unit with Shoaib Malik leading the likes of Kieron Pollard and Kumar Sangakkara in the PSL 2018.

Lahore Qalandars

Lahore Qalandars were the first team to sign a Platinum player for the PSL 2018 by snapping the Aussie power hitter Chris Lynn. However, Lynn’s participation in this edition of Pakistan Super League has come under serious threat after he injured his shoulder in the T20 tri-series final against New Zealand at Auckland.

With Lynn certain to miss the early half of the tournament, the onus will be on the skipper Brendon McCullum to lead Lahore’s batting unit and hope for constant support from Umar Akmal and Fakhar Zaman.

Multan Sultans vs Lahore Qalandars Preview

On paper, Multan Sultans have got a distinct advantage over their opposition for this match in Lahore Qalandars. Multan’s top order will have Kumar Sangakkara, Ahmed Shehzad, Shoaib Malik and Darren Bravo while Kieron Pollard’s firepower will be key for their PSL 2018 campaign.

On the other hand, Lahore have been handicapped with Lynn’s injury and will need a strong season from their domestic players and especially from Umar Akmal and Fakhar Zaman. Cameron Delport could be the wildcard for Lahore after his recent impressive stint in Caribbean cricket.

Multan Sultans vs Lahore Qalandars: Prediction

Multan Sultan’s all-around ability could become the deciding factor in this match and given Lynn’s injury, this could be the best time to face Lahore Qalandars as they are still busy finding their best mix following the injury setback to their Platinum star.

However, Lahore camp can breather easy with Inzamam Ul-Haq taking over as an advisor for the franchise for PSL 2018. Inzi’s interest in Lahore’s camp has come after seeing a couple of domestic stars whom he wants to keep a close eye on for PSL 2018.

Lahore Qalandars chances will depend on how quick they can score in the powerplay overs given McCullum and Zaman’s presence at the top. Meanwhile, Multan Sultan would prefer batting second and chase the target down with Pollard and Malik batting in the middle order.

Prediction – We are going with a win for Multan Sultan with Kumar Sangakkara putting on a match-winning display.
