India were emphatic in their 5-1 ODI series win over South Africa and while a lot has been said and written about how good India have been on this tour, let’s not forget that there is still a T20I series to be played and seeing Virat Kohli’s will to win, he would be gunning to take home the T20 series as well. The 1st T20 is expected to be a thriller, and so we look at the stats and preview.

The first T20 match of the series will be played at the Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg which must bring some fond memories for the Indian cricket fans as this was the venue where Team India won the inaugural T20 World Cup defeating Pakistan in the final.

Ahead of the first T20 game of the series, we take a look at the key stats and numbers for the venue and the players involved to understand the possible pattern of the match. While Johannesburg is known to be a six-hitting ground due to its high altitude, Indian spinners must feel confident to take on any opposition under any circumstance possible after their amazing display in the ODI series.

44 – Virat Kohli needs 44 more runs to score 2000 T20I runs, he will be the only 3rd player in the history to do so behind he Kiwi duo of Martin Guptill and Brendon McCullum.

57 – MS Dhoni (1364) and Suresh Raina (1307) will be playing together for Indian after a long time and the competition to be India’s 3rd highest run scorer in T20I cricket will resume between the two Chennai Super Kings stars. Dhoni is currently leading 57 runs but Raina finally will have a chance to add on to his tally of 1307 T20I runs for India.

76 – MS Dhoni has most number of dismissals in T20I cricket with 76 dismissals to his name. Dhoni has managed 47 catches and 29 stumpings from the 86 T20I matches he has played so far.

187.5 – Rohit Sharma’s strike rate at The Wanderers Stadium is very impressive at 187.50 from the 2 matches he played in the World T20 way back in 2007-08.

383 – Suresh Raina will play a T20I match for India after a gap of 383 days. Raina’s last T20I game for India came way back in February 2017 against England in Bengaluru where he scored 63 runs.
