Sachin Tendulkar urges BCCI to recognize India Blind Cricket Team and Board

The Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar has asked the BCCI to turn their attention towards India Blind Cricket team, and recognize the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) and provide the blind cricketers with improved facilities, so as to enable their strong growth.

India’s Blind Cricket Team brought great pride and laurel to the country by beating Pakistan by 2 wickets in the 2018 World Cup final and won their second Blind Cricket World Cup title.

Sachin Tendulkar requests full recognition of India Blind Cricket Team by BCCI

Following the win, Sachin Tendulkar contacted Committee of Administrator’s (CoA) chairman Vinod Rai and wrote a moving letter which talked about considering the recognition of Cricket Association for the Blind in India.

As reported by The Hindu, Sachin Tendulkar’s letter to CoA read, “As we celebrate the fourth consecutive victory of the Indian team in the Blind World Cup, I urge you to consider recognition of Cricket Association for the Blind in India by the BCCI.”

“The recognition by BCCI will go a long way in ushering a new era in Indian sports for the physically challenged where every athlete feels secure and celebrated, not struggling and eventually forgotten. Needless to add, it will also serve as a motivation for many others to take up sports passionately. I keenly look forward to your prompt action.”

Sachin Tendulkar has been mightily impressed by the team spirit that India’s Blind Cricket team have shown by defying all the odds and going ahead of the adversities, bringing two World Cup titles to the country.

Continuing his appreciation for the India Blind Cricket team, Sachin Tendulkar said,

“The team has overcome many hurdles and single-mindedly focussed on getting laurels for our country. Their victory is inspirational and reminds us of the limitless power of the human mind. I am given to understand that the BCCI has lent its support to these players in the past and considering a similar initiative this time too.”

Following the world cup success for the Blind players, Vinod Rai had confirmed that the players will be rewarded for their tremendous achievement for winning the World Cup, however, if Sachin’s request will be answered, it will bring a new era for those Blind Cricketers and the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI).
