Indian Premier League fever is slowly starting to grip the nation. The 8 franchises went head-to-head in the IPL 2018 auction last weekend to complete their squads ahead of the world’s most popular cricket league’s 11th season. Kolkata Knight Riders came into the auction with a purse of INR 59 crore. They didn’t shy away from spending their last penny in order to build their squad but could only manage to buy 17 players. Those 17 players in addition to Sunil Narine and Andre Russell will be looking to take Kolkata Knight Riders to their 3rd IPL title (IPL 2018). The Shah Rukh Khan-owned team did manage to secure the signing of their mercurial opener Chris Lynn for a whopping sum of INR 9.6 crore. The team’s strength again will be their spinners, apart from Narine, they have Indian internationals Piyush Chawla and Kuldeep Yadav.
IPL 2018: Probable KKR Playing 11
Sunil Narine, Chris Lynn, Robin Uthappa, Dinesh Karthik, Nitish Rana, Andre Russell, Shubman Gill, Piyush Chawla, Vinay Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav and Mitchell Starc.
In IPL 2018, KKR playing 11 will revolve around the 4 foreign players they. At the moment, Chris Lynn, Mitchell Starc, Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell look certain to be part of KKR playing 11 and KKR probable 11 also has the luxury of fielding very talented Indian players to boost their chances of winning the Indian Premier League season 11.
KKR 2018 Team Openers; Chris Lynn, Sunil Narine
Chris Lynn will definitely open the batting for KKR 2018 team, and will most probably partner Sunil Narine at the top. The Aussie batsman is one of the most destructive batsmen in the world and it was not surprising to see Kolkata going all-out in the auction to snap him.
Narine, on the other hand, showed us his batting capabilities last season as he opened the innings for KKR in the 2nd half of the tournament. He can always score a quick fire 25-35 runs to give his side the perfect base to launch in the end. Both him and Lynn will probably form one of the most dangerous opening pairs in IPL’s 11th season.
KKR 2018 Team Middle Batting Order; Robin Uthappa, Dinesh Karthik, Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana
After an explosive start, the stability in the middle order of KKR 2018 team will be brought in by experienced players like Robin Uthappa and Dinesh Karthik. The former was retained by KKR 2018 team for INR 6.4 crore using the ‘Right to Match’ card, while the latter was one of the most expensive wicket-keepers in the auction for KKR squad 2018. Both these international players will be supported by youngsters Nitish Rana and Shubman Gill.
Shubman Gill has been in absolutely brilliant form in the ongoing ICC Under-19 World Cup, while Nitish Rana was one of the finds of the 2017 IPL season.
The all-rounder spot in the team will be occupied by Andre Russel, who has always been one of the most consistent performers for the Kolkata Knight Riders. He is capable of picking wickets and hitting those huge sixes all over the ground.
KKR Squad 2018 Bowlers; Kuldeep Yadav, Mitchell Starc, Vinay Kumar, Piyush Chawla
While Narine will be the main wicket-taker for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR squad 2018), they will also have the option of using Kuldeep Yadav and Piyush Chawla.
Kuldeep picked up quite a few wickets in the international circuit in 2017, while Piyush Chawla has always done a decent job with his four overs in the IPL, which is why KKR didn’t hesitate to use their last RTM card on him. The main bowling threat will come from Australian paceman Mitchell Starc and former RCB player Vinay Kumar.
KKR Captain 2018; Dinesh Karthik
With Gautam Gambhir shifting base to Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have been left with a question as to who will be the KKR captain 2018. But in the absence of that leadership figure in the side, KKR have handed their captaincy role to Team India veteran Dinesh Karthik. New KKR captain 2018 Karthik is expected to set the KKR schedule 2018 right for the team in IPL 2018.
KKR Coach 2018; Jacques Kallis
Jacques Kallis is set to be KKR coach 2018. After taking the Kolkata Knight Riders squad to the playoffs in two consecutive seasons, Jacques Kallis will be continuing as KKR 2018 team coach for the 11th season as well. The legendary South African all-rounder has been with the franchise since 2011 and was their batting consultant in the 2015 season, and now he is the KKR coach 2018.
KKR coach 2018, Jacques Kallis, will be assisted by former Australian batsman Simon Katich, who is KKR coach 2018 for batting and has been with the franchise for a couple of seasons now.

Key Players for KKR 2018 Team – Chris Lynn, Robin Uthappa, Sunil Narine
Chris Lynn – One of the most destructive batsmen in world cricket right now, Lynn has the ability to take the match away from the opposition single-handedly. He has been in great form recently, especially in the Big Bash League, where he is representing Brisbane Heat.
In the IPL, Lynn has scored 384 runs in just 12 matches at an average of 38.4 with a strike-rate close to 160.
Robin Uthappa – Probably the most consistent player in the IPL, Uthappa has managed to score 3735 runs at an average of 29.40. He is the top contender to take up the captaincy now that Gambhir has left the franchise, however, it is unlikely to affect his batting approach as he looks to take him to their 3rd IPL title (IPL 2018). The 32-year-old has played some special knocks in the past, and even won the Orange cap in the 2014 season.
Sunil Narine – If Kolkata Knight Riders are going to challenge for the trophy in the 11th season, they can’t do it without their star player Sunil Narine. The West Indian is closing in on 100 IPL wickets but what was most impressive about him last season was his contribution with the bat at the top of the order. He scored 224 runs at a staggering strike-rate of 172.30. There is no doubt that Narine will be KKR’s biggest weapon for the upcoming season.
Kolkata Knight Riders predictions for IPL season 11
Even though Kolkata Knight Riders have won the tournament twice till now, their performance in the past few seasons hasn’t been what was expected of them. But with some new players in the squad this year and the core of the team still very much intact, we can expect the KKR schedule 2018 to have a lot of wins in IPL 2018.
