IPL 2018: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bag Chris Lynn for Rs. 9.6 crore

The 11th season of the Indian Premier League saw the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) re-acquire their old Australian property, Chris Lynn. Lynn has played in the previous IPL seasons with different clubs including KKR, and so the Kolkata IPL side has bought the batsman for 9.6 crores.

The IPL 2018 Player Auction saw a tumultuous series of bidding wars. And amidst the chaos, Australian cricketer Chris Lynn found out that he was a hot property which was sought by many IPL teams in the 11th season of the tournament.

Chris Lynn saw bids by multiple IPL teams, when – Mumbai Indians (MI), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Delhi Daredevils (DD) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) – all went for the Australia, before he ended up being bagged by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for Rs. 9.6 crores.

The right-handed Australian batsman and slow left-arm orthodox bowler is currently one of the best T20 players in the world.

Chris Lynn’s IPL history and journey with KKR

Lynn made his IPL debut in 2012 for the now defunct team, Deccan Chargers. In the 2014 player auction, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had roped in Chris Lynn.

The Australian has played only played 4 matches for KKR in 3 seasons, scoring 83 runs with an average strike rate of over 115. Chris Lynn’s one of the best IPL moments came in the 2014 edition of the T20 tournament, when 27-year-old took a jaw-dropping catch, and dismissed AB de Villiers in the final over of a clash. The catch was so decisive, that it ended up in KKR’s triumph, and the credit was to go to Chris Lynn for his acrobatic athleticism.

Known to be an extremely hard hitting batsman and an exceptional fielder, Chris Lynn will definitely be a valued asset to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
