The 24-year-old striker Luan has cleared the air over his rumoured transfer move to Liverpool as he claims he is yet to receive a concrete offer from his agent, reports Ziro Hora.
Luan has been in fine form for Brazil and his club Gremio having won the Rio Olympics and Copa Libertadores in recent months. Luan’s recent exploits have seen him get linked with a whole host of clubs chasing after his signature.
According to reports, Luan has an 18 million release clause which has attracted clubs from all over Europe including Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool. Despite Roberto Firmino’s stunning form this season, Klopp is eying a move for an out-and-out striker to deploy a different playing style while chasing a game or fighting to keep hold of crucial points.
Luan’s 18million clause is the biggest reason for the top European clubs making him a January transfer target but the player has denied any immediate transfer approach and has left all the transfer dealings with his agent.
Clearing the air on his future, Luan said: “If I knew, I wouldn’t hide. I always said that I would leave it to Gremio and to my agent, and if they had something concrete, they should talk to me. No one has come to me, so there is nothing.
“It has to be good for me, it has to be good for Gremio. I will not rush to want to leave soon, just like in the middle of last year.
“For the moment that we were through, I decided to stay. It was my decision alone. Now it’s the start of the season and I want to regain my form and rythm to play. What I know is that I want to play the next game as soon as possible here at Gremio.”
The January transfer window ends in next week and if the teams are to make an offer for the 24-year-old striker, they have to make in the coming days to keep any hope of signing the Brazilian.
