Glenn Maxwell recalled as substitute for injured Aaron Finch

Glenn Maxwell has been recalled into the Australian ODI squad after opener Aaron Finch was deemed unfit to participate due to a niggling hamstring injury.

Maxwell was excluded from the first 3 ODI’s owing to his inconsistent form in the international arena. However, the 29-year-old seems to have found a way back but it is very unlikely that we will see him in the 4th ODI as his inclusion is purely a cover. He will be joining the squad on Thursday night ahead of the Friday match.

Maxwell has spent the last month playing for Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League, where he has fired in spurts but not on a consistent basis.

Australia go into the 4th ODI looking to save their pride after falling 3-0 behind in the 5 match series. Whether Maxwell will get a chance even in the 5th ODI is pretty uncertain right now, as Finch is scheduled to go for a further assessment, whose result will decide his participation in the final match.

Although Maxwell’s international form has been scratchy at best, his domestic form has been phenomenal over the past 2-3 months. Which is why he will be itching to get another chance in the Australian colours to prove his international pedigree.
