Team India were given their best chance to cause an upset at Centurion but South Africa managed to win all the key battles, key sessions and ended up winning the 2nd test match by a rather comfortable margin.

Ahead of the 3rd and final test match, we take a look at the Statistical Preview of the game wherein we crunch down all the key numbers which could have a huge say in deciding the outcome of the game.

0 – India would walk into the 3rd test match at Johannesburg feeling rather confident as they have not lost a single game at The Wanderers in their previous 4 attempts. India have won 1 and drawn the other 3 and would hope to end the series on a high.

3 – Morne Morkel needs another 3 wickets to become South Africa’s fifth all-time greatest wicket-taker. Morkel is currently behind Jacques Kallis who had 291 wickets to his name. Morkel (289 wkts) is still far from the likes of Daley Steyn (419 wkts), Makhaya Ntini (390 wkts), and Allan Donald (330 wkts).

1 – Ravi Ashwin will also achieve a milestone as he needs just 1 more wicket to become India’s fourth all-time leading wicket-taker. He will go past Zaheer Khan’s tally of 311 wickets. Ashwin is still much far away from Anil Kumble (619 wkts), Kapil Dev (434 wkts) and Harbhajan Singh’s tally of 417 wkts.

1 – Umesh Yadav needs just 1 more test wicket to become the only fifth right arm fast bowler to pick 100 or more test wickets.

1 – A lot of things hinge on this number in our Statistical Preview for the 3rd test match between South Africa and India as Hashim Amla needs just 1 more catch to become the only 4th South African to take 100 or more catches in test match cricket.

1 – AB De Villiers needs just 1 more catch to break Jacque Kallis’ record of taking most catches between India-South Africa test matches. Both Kallis and De Villiers are currently tied on 23 catches each.

124 – Hashim Amla needs 124 more runs to become the only second batsman after Jacques Kallis to become the only 2nd batsmen to score 1000+ runs at The Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg. Amla current has 874 runs to his name at this venue.
