Chelsea want to sign AS Roma superstars Eden Dzeko and Emerson Palmieri in the January transfer window and have offered the Serie A club €65 million for both the players, reports Calciomercato.
Emerson is an exciting left-back prospect who joined AS Roma from Santos last summer but has failed to establish himself for the Giallorossi having made just 1 Serie A appearance this season.
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has used his Italian sources to scout the player and has convinced his club to submit an offer in the region of €20million which AS Roma will most likely accept.
Calciomercato believes that the talks between the two clubs are moving rapidly and an agreement could be reached by end of this week. Emerson is expected to fly down to London for his medicals and to complete his move to Chelsea early next week.
However, Chelsea are also tracking the possibilities of signing Eden Dzeko this month after Alvaro Morata has failed to keep up his early season goal scoring. Morata is without a goal in his last 6 games and has scored just 3 goals from his 15 appearances causing a major worry for his Antonio Conte.
Chelsea have been linked with several strikers in last few days with names like Andy Carroll, Fernando Llorente, and Peter Crouch (YES, you read that correct, that tall English striker) thrown in the mix. Carroll’s move to Stamford Bridge is all but over thanks to yet another injury meanwhile, there is a very little update on Crouch’s alleged move to Chelsea.
However, Conte wants a more prolific striker to partner Morata upfront and take the pressure of scoring goals away from the Spaniard. Dzeko has scored 14 goals from his 30 appearances this season and is regarded among the top strikers in European football.
Dzeko also has vital Premier League experience from his title-winning time at Manchester City. Chelsea have seen Man United and Arsenal strengthen their squad and the pressure is on Conte to finish the season strongly or signs are there for his exit from the club next summer.
