Leicester City are keen on signing Marseille’s Bouna Sarr in January, according to reports emerging in France.
French newspaper L’Equipe suggest the Premier League side made a €3m offer for Bouna Sarr, but that was rejected by the Ligue 1 side.
However, Claude Puel’s side are expected to make an improved offer for the 25-year-old in the coming days.
Bouna Sarr is reportedly flattered by the interest of Leicester and is open to a move to England. He is under contract until 2020 at Marseille, but a move in January could be likely if Leicester can reach an agreement with the French side.
L’Equipe say Sarr is appreciated by his teammates and manager Rudi Garcia, but they are ‘about to receive a new offer’.
Marseille have planned the sales of Doria and Bedimo in January, but Sarr is apparently not on the list. The injury to Jordan Amavi also makes the transfer to Leicester City a bit complicated, as Sarr has been covering up for him at right back.
Yesterday, the very reliable RMC Sport also reported Leicester City‘s interest in Sarr and it’d be interesting to see if a deal can be reached in January.
Bundesliga side Wolfsburg are also interested in signing Bouna Sarr, after failing to sign him in the summer, but the Foxes seem to have an advantage over them.
Sarr is primarily a winger, but his high defensive work rate means he could also play as right back, if needed.
