Bordeaux’s majority shareholder and chairman Nicolas de Tavernost has confirmed to the French media Arsenal target and Brazilian forward Malcom won’t be leaving the French club in January.
Tavernost told French newspaper L’Equipe: “Malcom won’t leave Bordeaux.”
It’s reported the former Corinthians forward has already told his teammates at Bordeaux that he is set to leave the club in the summer, but the chairman of the French club isn’t keen on losing their best player in January.
The 20-year-old is seen as a replacement of Chilean star Alexis Sanchez, who could be on his way to Manchester United.
Malcom’s representatives were also in England on Saturday to discuss a potential switch to England. L’Equipe have also mentioned interest from Tottenham, Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund.
Arsenal are apparently ready to offer €50m for Malcom, who has a contract until 2021 at the French club. It remains to be seen if Tavernost is really keen on keeping the Brazilian till the end of the summer or is putting pressure on the London club to pay up more for the Brazilian forward.
He has 7 goals and 6 assists to his name in all competitions and has also played for Brazilian side Corinthians.
